Ashley Olsen's Big Apple Errands

Posted Thursday June 23, 2011 5:27 PM GMT

Stepping out for some Big Apple errands, Ashley Olsen was spotted leaving her apartment building in New York City earlier today (June 23).

The 25-year-old actress/mogul exited the front doors of her super-posh pad while sporting a still-wet 'do, over-sized sunglasses, baggy black top and cropped baggy bottoms.

Meanwhile, Ashley and her fellow fashionista twin sister Mary Kate are gearing up for their latest venture, StyleMint, which launches July 1.

The business-minded pair just released a new promotional video for the project, showing off the fun and funky history of the t-shirt, which is the item the two will be selling.

Lady Gaga, Weird Al Find 'Happy Ending' After Parody Beef

All is well between Lady Gaga and "Weird Al" Yankovic. After some initial drama over his parody of "Born This Way," Gaga eventually gave Al her stamp of approval.

When MTV News caught up with Weird Al on Monday night at the "Bad Teacher" premiere in New York City, he told us the pop star is actually of a fan of his track, "Perform This Way."

"Where we stand is my music video 'Perform This Way' world-premiered [Monday] and is doing quite well," he said. "My album comes out [today]," he said of Alpocalypse, which was released on Tuesday (June 21). "It all got resolved."

On the Gaga parody track, he sings, "Got my straight jacket today/ It's made of gold lam/ No, not because I'm crazy/ I perform this way." Then he goes on to lampoon, among other topics, that famous MTV VMA meat dress: "I strap prime rib to my feet/ Cover myself with raw meat/ I'll bet you've never seen a skirt steak worn this way."

Initially, it seemed Gaga wasn't too pleased with the song's lyrics, but according to Al, she has come around. So, what exactly happened between Al and Mother Monster before things got straightened out?

"It was a big misunderstanding, miscommunication," he explained. "The bottom line is it's a happy ending. Lady Gaga approves it; she's totally cool and she really likes the parody."

In the brand-new video, Al portrays Gaga in some of her signature looks, from her Grammy egg to her bubble dress, but it wasn't easy to narrow down wardrobe for the clip.

"It's a challenge because she's got so many different looks," he said. "I mean, she's got such a bigger-than-life persona, so a big part of figuring out the video is figuring out how we're going to do two-dozen costumes in three minutes. On top of putting my head on a woman's body, that was difficult as well. So [making the video took] a lot of CG effects and wardrobe, basically."

Gaga isn't the only superstar lampooned on Alpocalypse. Al also has some fun with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and T.I., to name a few. "It's very eclectic, it's very odd, which I guess you come to expect from a guy like me."

Lady Gaga Is 'Just A Normal Girl' ... On 25-Inch Heels

As Lady Gaga holds onto the #1 spot on Billboard, for the second straight week, with her chart-topping album Born This Way, DJ White Shadow is no doubt enjoying the success. When we caught up with the producer recently, he told us how their collaboration started off as a long-distance relationship.

Back in 2009, White Shadow was approached to work on a co-headlining tour for Lady Gaga and Kanye West. After their Fame Kills Tour was canceled, though, Shadow was asked to focus on the next phase in Gaga's career. The producer and the pop star had already built quite a foundation by the time they finally met in person in the summer of 2010. And while Shadow wasn't completely sure what the encounter would be like, he had some clue that they would get along famously.

"We had talked for so long before [we met in person]. We had talked on the phone or talked on iChat, in emails; I think we kind of knew about each other's personalities," he told MTV News. "I mean, obviously, I was excited to meet her. I felt like we were long-distance pen pals."

What he found out is that despite all of the unusual costumes, Gaga is a pretty regular 25-year-old. "She's, like, super cool. I think everybody gets weirded out by 'Oh, she looks so crazy on those 25-inch heels and the hair-bow,' or whatever's going on at the time, but she's just a normal girl. Like, she's funny. She's really funny and super cool."

Shadow worked closely with Gaga and BTW musical director Fernando Garibay to create a pop album that would push the envelope. The DJ/producer worked on heavy-hitting tracks like "Born This Way," "Government Hooker," "Americano" and "Bloody Mary," to name a few.

So, how is Gaga as a boss, we wanted to know. "She's the best boss. She's a great friend," he said. "She's amazing.

"Here's the funny thing about this: People ask that question but I'm telling you, 'cause everyone wants to [know], 'Does she say something to you as her friend or someone you know that she writes music with that she doesn't say to us? Does she talk about New York in a way that she wouldn't have done into a camera?' And the answer is no," he explained. "I've never seen her say something that was disingenuous."

Bottom line: Gaga is always Gaga. "The stories that she tells, the way that she looks on camera and the way that she acts ... that's how she is. That's her character. She is the same."

In fact, like most New Yorkers, Gaga loves to shop for a good bargain. "I was walking down the street in front of the studio one day and she's shopping for $20 shoes. She's New York. We've been to dinner a couple times ... just go to normal restaurants. It's New York, it's her home, right?" he said. "So, I've definitely heard all the stories that she's telling. She's very open."

Casey Veggies Graduates, Despite Sleeping In Class

The last year has been a breakout one for Los Angeles MC Casey Veggies, who released his third mixtape, Sleeping in Class, in December and toured with fellow up-and-comer Mac Miller in January. What's more amazing is that while this was going on, he was still in school. And on June 16, Veggies (or, as his diploma says, Casey Jones) graduated from Inglewood High School on the honor roll.

"On the first week of school, he gave me a link to a video of one of the songs that he has [on Sleeping in Class], so my first impression of him was good, but I was a little concerned, because of the lyrics to the song," Casey's senior-year English teacher Shannon Kirk told MTV News. "It's actually kind of ironic because [sleeping in class is] the last thing he would do in class.

"Casey balances his work life and his school life better than I probably would have at his age," Kirk added of her student, who did independent study while he was on the road. "He's pretty mature for his age, and he was able to do pretty well. [He] was one of the top students in my class."

Veggies realized that he could have quit school to pursue his dreams, but he never felt the need to. He knew he could handle it, so why not get school done? As for college, though his mother says he was accepted to four schools, he's postponing those plans while he sees where his rap career goes.

"At the end of the day, I'm just dreaming right now," Casey said. "I'm going to stay in my dream and don't plan on waking up. If I do, maybe I'll grab a college degree, but right now, I'm in my own world."

Kirk wouldn't tell us Casey's grades, but his mother, Cynthia Jones, was thrilled that her son made the honor roll. She said that education meant everything to her and her husband, and their goal was always for Casey and his older brother, Corey, to graduate high school and attend college as they had. Corey is currently a freshman at UC Riverside, but Casey had to convince her that he could take another route.

"I had no idea that his music thing was going to come about the way it has," Jones said. "This is different to accept, but he's doing really well, so you have to let a person follow [their dreams]. You're only young once.

"I'm excited, I'm happy for him," she continued, "and then I'm happy he doesn't have to juggle these two lives, because it has been a juggle for him, so now he can concentrate on one thing."

Tom Hanks Dances And Promotes 'Larry Crowne'

by Stefan Doyno

Acting, writing, directing, producing? and now Tom Hanks can officially add dancing to his list of talents. Hanks was on Univision's Spanish-language morning show Despierta America to promote "Larry Crowne," the story of a middle aged man who loses his job and decides to head back to college where he meets and falls for a teacher played by Julia Roberts. During a weather segment, the Spanish-challenged Hanks handled his language difficulties in the best way possible: with a dance routine.

The Oscar winner gave it his all (though he appears to be a bit winded at the end of his performance), and if he put half as much energy into "Larry Crowne," it's sure to be a great time at the movies. The flick hits theaters on July 1, 2011.

Megan Fox Joins 'Dictator,' Jennifer Lopez Stalks 'Parker'

Megan Fox is ready to return to comedy, this time to lend a hand in Sacha Baron Cohen's dictatorship.

According to THR, Fox and John C. Reilly will be making cameos in Cohen's latest flick, "The Dictator." They will be joining Anna Faris and Ben Kingsley in the movie, which tells the heroic story of "a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." "The Dictator" is set for release on May 11, 2012.

After the jump, find out what films Jennifer Lopez is circling, who else joined "Snow White and the Huntsman" as dwarves and what project Jason Momoa has decided to star in.

Jennifer Lopez In Talks For Two Movies
With her fate at "American Idol" still uncertain, Jennifer Lopez is rumored to be circling two film projects at this point in time. Deadline has learned that Lopez is looking into starring roles of "Parker," the adaptation of the Donald Westlake mystery novels, and "What To Expect When You're Expecting," which already stars Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison. Neither deal is closed, but Deadline says that talks are currently underway for both.

Javier Bardem Not Set For "Dark Tower"
In a recent interview with Deadline, Ron Howard let loose the news that Javier Bardem might not be as locked in to "The Dark Tower" casting as we had previously thought. "Nobody is pay or play but he has said he wants to do it," Howard said, adding, "We?ve spent a lot of time together. He?s fascinated by the character and has great instincts for Roland. I?m hoping when we go, he?s available and will join us."

Five New Dwarves Circle "Snow White And The Huntsman"

Ashley Greene: Working Out for Fitness, Not Thinness

Posted Wednesday June 22, 2011 6:02 PM GMT

Kicking off her day with a trip to the gym, Ashley Greene was spotted out for a workout in Studio City, CA on Wednesday morning (June 22).

The sweaty, yet still sexy ?Twilight? star walked along to her car once finished up as the on-hand photogs snapped up shots.

Fitness has always been important to the brunette beauty, but Greene works out to stay fit - not to be super skinny, unlike so many in the Hollywood spotlight.

She told Women?s Health magazine, ?A lot of people like to be super tiny. But I don't want a child's body - I want a woman's body that is extremely fit. It's so much sexier.?

Harry Potter World Cup: Hagrid Vs. Goyle, Lily Vs. Slughorn

Welcome to MTV's Harry Potter World Cup! We've selected 64 of the best "Harry Potter" characters and matched them up in a series of duels for a chance at magical glory, but it's up to YOU to decide who the greatest "Potter" character of all time is in this pool of wizards and witches. Will the Death Eaters destroy Hogwarts, or will good triumph over evil? In the end, the choice is yours,so keep voting at MTV Movies Blog and make your voice heard!

The first round of the Hogsmeade division has been filled with some especially brutal choices, but we're closing out the day with one competitor I think most "Potter" fans can agree to love: Rubeus Hagrid.

The jolly half-giant and Hogwarts groundskeeper makes his much-anticipated debut in the Harry Potter World Cup today alongside an equally adored character who's very close to Harry's heart. Voting for the first round of the Hogsmeade division stays open until Sunday (June 27) at midnight, and make sure to tune in tomorrow as we start exploring the fourth and final division's first round match-ups.

(7) Lily Potter vs. (10) Horace Slughorn
Hogwarts Potions master Horace Slughorn doesn't exactly have the fighting spirit, but that's not to say that he hasn't done a great deal of damage in his time. A broken and reclusive man, Slughorn's likely a reluctant participant in the World Cup, so given his fondness for his former student Lily Evans ? better known as Lily Potter, Harry's mother ?it wouldn't be surprising to see him fold in this first round. Lily, barring any unexpected developments, it looks like you're about to advance one step closer to the World Cup.

(2) Rubeus Hagrid vs. (15) Gregory Goyle
He's been framed and wrongfully imprisoned, discharged and defeated, and made into the laughing stock of Slytherin students everywhere. But Hagrid suffers all these fools and devious deeds with a glad heart and a strong spirit. Though the Hogwarts mainstay isn't one to seek out a fight, he's not about to let some low-rent Draco Malfoy sidekick roll him over, either. Sorry Goyle, no Cup for you.But at least you were invited to play along!

Having trouble deciding? Consult our Harry Potter World Cup experts from MuggleNet, The Leaky Cauldron and MTV News for their insight!

Lady Gaga Sends Love To Clarence Clemons On Twitter

Clarence Clemons is reportedly "responsive and in stable condition" after two brain surgeries, according to Bruce Springsteen fansite Backstreets.com. The E Street Band member suffered a stroke on Sunday and is now reportedly on the mend.

"Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today ... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand," a source close to the musician tells the site. "This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened ? it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter."

Fox New York confirmed the report. A rep for Springsteen had not responded to MTV News' request for comment or further information on Clemons' condition by press time.

Lady Gaga, who worked with Clemons on her Born This Way album, took to Twitter to send love and well-wishes to the saxophonist. "Little monsters, my very close friend +musician on 'The Edge of Glory' Clarence Clemons is very sick," she wrote. "Can we all make some get-well videos?"

"Edge of Glory" producer Fernando Garibay recently recalled to MTV News Gaga's desire to get the musician on the song, which she wrote as an ode to her grandfather.

"As soon as she was done with it, we said, 'Let's go with it.' I think it's very epic. It's an emotional song," Garibay said. As for Clemons' appearance on the song, he added, "She wanted a sax part, so he came in and played on 'Edge of Glory,' and what a moment that was to have her family there when the sax was being played on the track and it was all really magical.

"Clarence Clemons came to the city; we were in New York," he continued. "He heard the song twice. We set up a mic and everything [and he] just played live all the way through. It was kind of one take. It was really amazing."

Sean Kingston Released From Hospital

Sean Kingston is well on his way to recovery. The pop singer has been released from Jackson Memorial Hospital, three weeks after he was admitted for injuries stemming from a jet-ski accident in Miami Beach over the Memorial Day weekend.

A rep for Kingston confirmed to MTV News on Wednesday (June 22) that the 21-year old singer was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

The "Beautiful Girls" was initially hospitalized in critical condition after the Sea-Doo jet-ski he was piloting along with friend/ passenger Cassandra Sanchez, crashed into the Palm Island Bridge, which connects Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway. According to Sanchez, 23, Kingston lost control of the jet-ski (one he reportedly purchased just days prior to the accident) because he was going too fast. A passerby in a boat, who happened to be an off-duty Coast Guard employee, helped the two out of the water and to safety.

Kingston (born Kisean Anderson) was admitted to the hospital on May 29, and moved to the ICU, a few days later, when his condition was downgraded to stable. (Sanchez was also admitted to the hospital but was discharged shortly thereafter with minimal injuries.) Although the singer is expected to make a full recovery, sources say he suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water in his lungs.

But the Miami native looked healthy, even slimmer, a few days ago when he tweeted a picture of himself, in the hospital, along with the message, "Feeling alot better! GOD IS GREAT! Thanks for all the prayers and support! Love you ALL!"

The note to his well-wishers was his first tweet since the day of the accident.

'Hobbit' Casts Evangeline Lilly In New Role

Evangeline Lilly already had a strong connection to Middle-earth thanks to her former relationship with "Lost" co-star Dominic Monaghan ? better known to Tolkien fans as "Lord of the Rings"' very own Merry Brandybuck, of course ? but now she's strengthening those ties all on her own.

Lilly is the latest addition to "The Hobbit," director Peter Jackson announced on his Facebook page over the weekend. The actress, who starred on "Lost" as fugitive-turned-adoptive-mother Kate Austen throughout the show's six-season run, will play "a new character" in the two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel, which is slated to hit theaters in December 2012 and December 2013.

"Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character ? the Woodland Elf, Tauriel," Jackson revealed of her casting. "Her name means 'daughter of Mirkwood' and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing! (No, there is no romantic connection to Legolas.) What is not a secret is how talented and compelling an actress Evangeline is; we are thrilled and excited she will be the one to bring our first true Sylvan Elf to life."

Jackson also announced that Barry Humphries has joined the cast as the Goblin King.

"Barry is perhaps best known for his business and social connections as the longtime manager of Dame Edna Everage," he wrote. "He has also been an ardent supporter of the rather misunderstood and unfairly maligned Australian politician Sir Les Patterson. However, in his spare time, Barry is also a fine actor, and we're looking forward to seeing him invest the Goblin King with the delicate sensitivity and emotional depth this character deserves."

These are just the latest developments in a string of recent casting moves on the "Hobbit" front. Last week, Jackson filled out two of the story's most important roles, Smaug the Dragon and Bard the Bowman, with actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Evans, respectively. It's a "Sherlock Holmes" reunion for Cumberbatch, whose onscreen Watson, Martin Freeman, holds the titular role in "The Hobbit."

The 28-year-old actress adorns the magazine's front page with grace, talking with the publication about topics such as her activist nature and doing the right thing.

With a behind the scenes video available for viewing pleasure above, highlights from Miss Bush's Zooey interview are as follows:

On her passion for activism on issues close to the heart:?It?s funny. As a kid, I asked my mom if I could start a beach clean up on Saturdays with my friends. She said, ?Well, Sweetheart, I don?t think many six-year-olds are going to want to go to the beach and pick up trash on Saturday.? But, I was very gung ho about the whole thing. Causes and social issues have always really registered with me.?

On making sure to always do the right thing: ?I think I?ve always had a very clear idea of what?s right and wrong. 'Green Lantern' Tops Weekend Box Office

The big-screen debut of DC Comics' "emerald knight" may have been #1 at the box office over the weekend but it failed to gather as much green as most observers had hoped. "Green Lantern" generated an estimated $52.6 million in its debut weekend, less than the opening numbers for superhero flicks "Thor" and "X-Men: First Class" earlier this year.

The heavily marketed potential franchise starter, which stars Ryan Reynolds, cost an estimated $200 million to produce. To put the numbers in perspective, fewer people saw "Green Lantern" on opening weekend than the film adaptations of lesser known superheroes like "Daredevil" and "Ghost Rider."

And critics were not kind to the film. "Green Lantern is a new primer on how not to make a comic book movie ... flat FX, smirky acting, clunky writing and clueless direction," Rolling Stone wrote.

"Mr. Popper's Penguins" was also something of a disappointment relative to previous Jim Carrey comedies. The film, based on the classic book of the same name, opened with $18.2 million, which wasn't enough to beat last week's #1 movie, "Super 8." J.J. Abrams' throwback homage to '80s movies like "E.T." earned another $21.2 million in its second weekend for a $72.7 million total.

"X-Men: First Class" was #4 over the weekend with $11.5 million, for a $199.9 million total. While the comic-book flick's numbers are lower than most of the movies in the mutant-hero franchise, the reboot/prequel hybrid has enjoyed the best critical response for an "X-Men" movie since "X2."

"The Hangover 2" rounded out the top five with $9.6 million, for a $232.7 million total. And this weekend's new releases include Disney/Pixar's "Cars 2" and the Cameron Diaz comedy "Bad Teacher." Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" follows on Wednesday, June 29.

However, in his spare time, Barry is also a fine actor, and we're looking forward to seeing him invest the Goblin King with the delicate sensitivity and emotional depth this character deserves."

These are just the latest developments in a string of recent casting moves on the "Hobbit" front. 'Footloose' Star Kenny Wormald Reveals Secrets Behind Exclusive Trailer

"Footloose" star Kenny Wormald sidled up to his computer, hit play on the trailer for his remake of the classic 1984 flick and quickly realized he'd made a big blunder.

"I watched it alone in my house, and that was a mistake, because I thought I was going to scream!" the dancer-turned-actor told MTV News. "I was blown away."

By now, though the 26-year-old has had time to settle down, he's no less pumped about the film, which hits theaters on October 14 and which he calls "all new, but it also pays homage to the original." To celebrate our debut of the trailer, Wormald gave us a call and revealed some secrets behind the new footage.

Backflips and Angry Dances
The most iconic scene in the original flick features a young Kevin Bacon going wild in a warehouse, dancing and flipping like he's trying to win an Olympic gold medal in gymnastics. The new movie, as the trailer hints, re-creates that scene. Wormald himself busted out the great majority of those moves but had to make way for the experts from time to time.

"We called it the angry dance," he explained. "There's some crazy stuff going on in that scene ? some gymnastic stuff that is a little bit from the original and they wouldn't let me do some of it. It's just when it comes to the death-defying stunts ? flips and stuff ? that's not me. They were like, 'I don't think so. Sit down, Kenny!' "

Wormald again had to step away from the cameras when it came to a perilous backflip seen early in the trailer. "All of the dancing is me," he said. "But that flip isn't me ? but don't tell anyone!"

The Exploding Bus
Late in the trailer, we get a glimpse of Wormald racing a bus, followed quickly by a gnarly explosion. Turns out, that scene is an action-movie tweak to the original's tractor chicken race.

"They made it really climactic," Wormald said of the original scene. "But if you think about it, tractors only go five miles per hour. So I think [director] Craig Brewer wanted a more badass version of the chicken race."

The Boston Accent
Bacon's character hails from Chicago ? a northern boy who moves into a southern town and brings an urge to boogie with him. But from the minute Wormald opens his mouth in the new trailer, we can tell he's not from Chicago. Instead, he speaks with a thick accent, one not originally part of the script but which the Boston-born actor introduced to the project.

"They went into casting thinking it would be the same [as the original]. But when I went in there, I wanted to be different than the other guys. I knew it was a kid from up north going down south, so I made a decision to use my Boston accent in the audition," Wormald told us. "As I kept getting closer and closer to booking it, they never said don't use the accent. And then I booked it and they said, 'We're going to change it from Chicago to Boston.' They dug it."

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Holds On To #1 Billboard Spot

What a difference a week ? and a price higher than 99 cents ? makes. While Lady Gaga will hold on to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, sales for Born This Way were down a whopping 84 percent in its second go-round, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, plummeting from more than 1.1 million to just over 174,000. That put Mother Monster within sight of the 1.3 million mark, while the unstoppable Adele held the #2 spot with 21, which moved another 121,000 to push over the 2 million mark.

There are plenty of other new faces in the top 10, with Death Cab for Cutie crashing in at #3 with Codes and Keys (102,000), Eddie Vedder just behind with his sedate solo effort Ukulele Songs (71,000) and Kentucky rockers My Morning Jacket notching their highest debut yet at #5 with Circuital (55,000). The other newbie in the mix is Flogging Molly's Speed of Darkness, which lands at #9 thanks to sales of 25,000.

The rest of the top 10: Brad Paisley's This Is Country Music (#6, 53,000), NOW 38 (#7, 39,000), Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (#8, 33,000) and "Glee": The Music, Volume 6 (#10, 25,000).

A number of hyped albums suffer double-digit dips including the self-titled boy band supergroup's NKOTBSB (down 15 spots and 63 percent, #22), the Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (down 12 spots and 29 percent) and Lonely Island's Turtleneck & Chain (down 14 spots and 30 percent).

Gaga couldn't knock Adele off the top of the iTunes singles and albums charts, with 21 holding the top spot above Born This Way, followed by Death Cab, Vedder, My Morning Jacket, Paisley, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, "American Idol" champ Scotty McCreery's season 10 digital highlights album, buzz band Foster the People's Torches and Flogging Molly.

While Gaga has already released a blizzard of singles to date, Adele's first, and so far only, single, "Rolling in the Deep," continues to sit atop the iTunes singles tally, holding off Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and Lil Wayne's "How to Love." Another Young Money member, Nicki Minaj, is in the #6 slot with "Super Bass," outpacing Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song," DJ Khaled's "I'm the One," Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" and Lupe Fiasco's "The Show Goes On."

Things are likely to stay static at the top next week as the major new releases include albums from Britain's Arctic Monkeys, country singer Ronnie Dunn and underground rapper Tech N9ne.

Cameron Diaz Says Playing Crappy 'Bad Teacher' Was Refreshing

It's almost a Hollywood storytelling imperative: Make your main character likeable. Even if he or she starts off as the most loathsome of humans, be sure by the time the credits roll that your protagonist learns a lesson and reveals a more attractive personality.

Not so in "Bad Teacher," the June 24 comedy in which Cameron Diaz's couldn't-give-a-hoot educator ? she routinely sleeps through class and lights up a joint afterward ? remains largely unchanged. And it was the character's essentially static arc, Diaz told us recently, that attracted her to the movie, even if she initially thought she wanted nothing to do with it.

"The first 30 pages, I'm like, 'I am not playing this. There is no way I can play this character. There [are] no redeeming qualities to this character,' " she recalled of the script. "And by the end of it, I'm like, 'Oh my god, this is genius! There's no redeeming qualities to this character!' We got to the end of the script and we're not apologizing for anything she said. It's a very modest arc."

See, the teacher she plays, Elizabeth Halsey, begins the film with one goal in life: to put her bank account above love and marry a dude she honestly has no respect for but who can buy her a slick sports car without blinking an eye. Quickly, though, the guy ditches her, and she sets her mind to roping in a new rich boy, a substitute teacher played by Justin Timberlake.

A hefty heap of pot, some unscrupulous test-taking techniques and a whole lot of other bad behavior later, Halsey's plans pan out in a very unexpected manner. But by film's end, one thing remains hilariously the same: She's still kind of a crappy teacher.

"It's amazing that it exists in this movie because it is so rare," Diaz laughed. "I'm thrilled because it is so refreshing."

Check out everything we've got on "Bad Teacher."

'Glee' Star Cory Monteith Teases 'Big Story Line'

"Glee" fans still have a few more months to go before the kickoff of season three, when it's been rumored that our favorite characters will graduate from McKinley High. But don't ask the cast what's in store for the upcoming season, because creator Ryan Murphy is apparently keeping the plotlines very much a secret.

"I don't know where it's going to go," Cory Monteith told MTV News about his character, Finn. "He's got a big story line with Rachel, obviously, but it should be interesting to see how he develops."

Monteith, who also stars in the upcoming flick "Monte Carlo" with Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester, is hoping things get a bit more complicated for the New Directions singer.

"I think the harder it is for him, the better, you know?" Monteith said. "I think Finn has a lot of growing up to do and I think that Finn has a lot of struggle left for him. I think dealing with a lot of his dad stuff, the passing of his father and dealing with the unrequited love all of a sudden from Rachel, I think the more trouble he goes through, the more interesting it is for me as an actor."

For now, Monteith and his TV co-stars are keeping busy on the Glee Live! In Concert! Tour. The cast just wrapped up the North American leg of the tour and are gearing up to take their act overseas; they'll play Manchester's MEN Arena this week before moving on to London for seven shows at the O2 Arena.

"It's an overwhelming experience every night," Montieth told us. "I suspect that England is going to be incredible as well. We are going over to the U.K., playing England and Ireland, so I think that's going to be incredible."

Regardless of where Monteith performs, he's just excited to get out there for all of his fans. "It's so rare that we get to connect with our audience, which is what we're doing," Monteith said of the live shows. "We're literally touching them, grabbing their hands, so it's a great experience."

But life on the road must get a bit tiring, so we wondered whether the castmembers ever get sick of one another.

"No, it's like a very well assembled family," Monteith said. "Like, you can't choose your family, but it's like a well-chosen family and we seem to complement each other really well. We are all quite different from one another so we get along really well."

Nicole Scherzinger & Lewis Hamilton: Beverly Hills Lovers

Posted Tuesday June 21, 2011 5:27 PM GMT

Rounding out their weekend with a romantic dinner for two, Nicole Scherzinger and boyfriend Lewis Hamilton shared a meal at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (June 19).

The former "Pussycat Dolls" singer and her Formula One driver beau looked adorable as they sported matching all-black outfits for their outing - with Nicole wearing a trendy fedora hat and shorts with leggings while Lewis kept it casual in a cotton shirt and jeans.

In related news, Cheryl Cole's "Girls Aloud" band-mate, Kimberley Walsh, has taken to her OK magazine column to dismiss any reports that Scherzinger purposely wore a similar outfit to Cole's at her debut to US "X Factor" auditions, as she explained, "I'm certain it's just a coincidence. That block color look is a real fashion trend."

Walsh continued, "Nicole wouldn't want to get a dig in about Cheryl, she's a really nice girl and she's always been really friendly towards her so I don't think it's anything to do with that," adding, "I reckon it's just a story whipped up by the media to cause controversy."

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: ?Transformers? Photo Call in Rio

Posted Tuesday June 21, 2011 4:39 PM GMT

Taking care of her promotional duties, Rosie Huntington Whiteley was spotted at a photo call for ?Transformers: Dark of the Moon? in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday (June 20).

The Victoria?s Secret hottie looked fabulous as she posed for the paparazzi and chatted with fans and members of the press while joined by Josh Duhamel.

As for her experience making the film, Rosie confessed she wasn?t bothered by being "dirty and hot and sweaty for months on end. It's not glamorous. You had to become one of the boys, for sure."

"You had to leave all sense of girliness at the door. I'm a bit of a tomboy anyway. It's an all-male cast apart from Frances McDormand, who worked on the movie for a few weeks. It was me and the lads."

Clarence Clemons, In Memoriam: The Big Man, In More Ways Than One

Clarence Clemons was affectionately known as "The Big Man," probably because, well, he was a big man. Standing six-feet, four-inches tall -- and nearly just as wide -- he towered over Bruce Springsteen, the E Street Band, and whomever else he shared the stage with during his five-decade career, casting a shadow as formidable as it was striking (it's no wonder Bruce decided to lean on him, like some sort of lamppost, on the cover of 1975's Born To Run).

But his physical size only told part of the story. Because Clemons was also a massive talent, a saxophonist as adept at filing an arena with his booming solos as he was providing a rock-solid backbone to Springsteen's churning, yearning rock. He was the Big Man because everything ran through him, because he was capable of both taking the lead (like on "Jungleland") and laying back in the cut (like on "10th Avenue Freeze Out," where his presence definitely shapes the song, but at no point overshadows its other components), and because of the tones he charmed from his sax ... crisp and clear-eyed, grandiose yet gritty, big yet decidedly blue-collar (just like he was), no one played like Clarence did. And when he died on Saturday at the age of 69 after complications from a stroke he suffered last week, not only did we lose a mountain of a man, but an icon as well.

See photos of Clemons throughout his career.

Simply put, Clemons was the most prominent sax player in popular music. And as proof, I'll ask you to name any of his contemporaries. Chances are, you can't; not because they don't exist, but because they couldn't begin to approach his stature. He was the go-to guy when the stars needed a session hand (recording with the likes of Aretha Franklin and Twisted Sister, and performing live with everyone from the Grateful Dead to Ringo Starr,) and, more recently, Lady Gaga tapped him to perform on her Born This Way album -- he appears in her new "The Edge Of Glory" video, a move that no doubt introduced his sublime playing to a whole new generation of fans. Shoot, he even appeared on "The Simpsons," "The Wire" and "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," where he played, fittingly enough, one of the Three Most Important People in the World.

Remember Clemons with us on Facebook.

In passing, he leaves behind a catalog that's nearly as massive as his frame: not only his notable guest appearances, but several solo albums (and records he cut with backing bands like the Temple of Soul and the Red Bank Rockers) and, of course, the myriad of albums he cut with Springsteen and the E Street Band. And it's on those recordings -- starting with 1973's Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and continuing right on through 2009's Working on a Dream and last year's reissue The Promise -- where Clemons not only shone the brightest, but also showcased the reason why he earned his "Big Man" nickname. Sure, he burns on songs like "Badlands" and "Born To Run," but listen to his work on songs like "Prove It All Night" and "Dancing in the Dark" (to name six dozen) ... the times where he proves to be the Bigger Man, letting his fellow bandmates get their share, too.

Rarely has there been a player so soulful and selfless ... one so secure in his own status that he was willing to let others shine. It's why Clarence Clemons will forever be known as "The Big Man," and why, even in death, he still casts a formidable shadow over popular music and popular culture. He was the sax man's sax man. To paraphrase Springsteen on "Freeze Out," not only was the change was made uptown when the Big Man joined the band, but the mould was broken, too.

Lady Gaga's Japan Landing

Posted Tuesday June 21, 2011 8:48 AM GMT

Making her way to the Land of the Rising Sun, Lady Gaga was spotted at Narita International Airport outside of Tokyo, Japan today (June 21).

The ?Born This Way? songstress looked lovely as she made her way through the terminal sporting a long green wig, leather coat, and oversized sunglasses.

And when this whole music career dries up, Gaga says she hopes to transition to the world of fashion design.

She explained, "I'd love a fashion line when I stop making music for a while, for a year. But that's not going to happen soon. I'm in love with song-writing right now."

Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night' Video: Frame By Frame

In Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" video, we see what happens when nerdy girl Kathy Beth Terry (Perry) gets a makeover and becomes the life of the party. Recently, director Marc Klasfeld sat down with MTV News and took us through his neon-colored tribute to '80s teen movies, frame by frame.

"The storyline is definitely '16 Candles' and John Hughes-influenced," Klasfeld said. "And all those great '80s high school movies."

The celebrity cameos come fast and don't stop, beginning with "Glee" star Darren Criss, who drops in on Kathy's bedroom to thank her for the "best party ever" the morning after. "Darren, he was great," Klasfeld said. "He was in there for like an hour. He came in, nailed it, did his thing."

Criss wasn't the only one who pumped out great work. "There's Katy! One thing about her, she really took on this role, she dove right into it and did everything that was asked and a lot more," he recalled. "There's a lot of outtakes that we actually couldn't show. She had a lot of fun with it."

"Friday" singer Rebecca Black also appeared in the video, as Kathy Beth Terry's sort of Fairy Godmother. "Rebecca was great all the way through. She was really excited, and I think she looks great," he said. "She looks like a Disney TV star in this, so who knows what's next for Rebecca?"

Black and Perry had to make fast friends when it came to the makeover scene. "This was a fun scene. [Rebecca and Katy] kind of first met in this scene," he said of the mustache-removal moment. "We actually didn't use wax [on Katy]. I think that was honey. She actually doesn't have hair there to wax, but suspension of disbelief, as they say. And there's her headgear off, and here she comes: the made-over Kathy Beth."

Once made over, Kathy joins in on a big game of "Just Dance," the kind of product placement Klasfeld said he tried to fit seamlessly into the clip. "It wasn't this crass cut away to a phone or to a camera, and it kind of fit in with the theme of the video."

The video features a number of other cameos including Kenny G, Hanson and "Glee" star Kevin McHale, but perhaps none were as funny as the appearance at the end by '80s icons Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman.

"They were one of our great cameos we had in the video, and we just roll with it here," he said. "This was just pure ad lib."

Just when fans think the video is over, the credit roll provides a little something extra. "Obviously a lot of movies do this [credit blooper reel], but my influence for it was [1981 movie] 'Cannonball Run' because 'Cannonball Run' always had these great outtakes that went on forever," he said. "We had so many outtakes, we could have let it go on for 14 minutes, but we had to stop at some point."

Lady Gaga's Meat Dress Stays Fresh At Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Oh, that meat dress! Nearly a year after Lady Gaga wore it at the MTV Video Music Awards, the costume made of various cuts of meat that designer Franc Fernandez and stylist Nicola Formichetti put together is still making headlines.

On Thursday (June 16), that dress will join the "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power'' exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where it will sit on display along with Gaga's childhood piano and Armani Prive orbit gown, which she wore to the 2011 Grammys, until February 2012.

"I was talking to Lady Gaga's managers, and this is probably around November [of last year], and basically talked about different things, and we talked about the meat dress and we thought it would be great to add it to the exhibit just because of all the notoriety it has, so that's basically how it came about," RRHOF chief curator Jim Henke told MTV News. "We thought the meat dress would really be cool."

So, how will the folks at the Rock Hall keep it fresh until it wraps up its stint there? "It's going to be in a case and we are putting some canisters in there to control the humidity, and then we have this other canister that soaks up the glutens," he explained. "But it's in a sealed case and we have the gels to control the environment in there."

However, it took some work to get it to the point where it can hang around the Rock Hall along with a number of other high-profile memorabilia without seeming super-gross. Henke explained, "We went back to Franc Fernandez ... ultimately what we decided to do, we sent it to a taxidermist, they put it into a meat locker and then we started working on it and created this [chemical] solution and treated it with that.

"And then they had a body form, and when it was still wet, they put it on the body form and then it dried on there," he continued. "And then they had to do a little bit of painting to bring it back and give it a little bit more color."

Gaga hasn't been shy about making the dress into jerky or wanting to have her extensive wardrobe in a museum, as she shared on "The Graham Norton Show." "I keep everything and dream of having a museum of all my clothes. I have an archive house for all my clothes," she said. "[The dress has] been jerked. It stank. It was fabulous. I never want to talk to anyone at those big celebrity functions because I feel awkward, and it was great ? because it stunk, I didn't have to talk to anyone."

Having the dress in the exhibit is quite an honor and it's an interesting piece, but Henke notes this isn't the most bizarre exhibit at the RRHOF. "Definitely one of the stranger pieces," he laughed about the dress, adding, "There are some other weird things. We actually have [pioneering radio DJ] Alan Freed's ashes."

'Tree Of Life' Star Reveals Magical Scenes You'll Never See

Jessica Chastain tells MTV News 'hundreds' of unusual moments unfolded while shooting the Terrence Malick film.

Considering Terrence Malick has reportedly been working on his latest film, "The Tree of Life," for nearly four decades, it stands to reason that there might be a lot of extra footage or plot lines that were left out of the theatrical cut of the film.

MTV News caught up with lead actress Jessica Chastain recently to get her take on Malick's process and we asked her how the film has evolved since they wrapped production.

"I saw the film about a year ago," Chastain told us. "I've seen it now four times, and I'm convinced that [Malick] added new stuff. I'm like, 'You're still tinkering with this.' People are telling me I'm wrong," she laughed. "Which kind of goes to show if you've seen it four times, you probably haven't seen everything in it."

When asked to pinpoint specific scenes or moments that were special for her during filming but didn't survive the final edit, Chastain recalled a random encounter with a butterfly. "Sometimes ... when you're shooting a moment, you think, 'Aw, this is incredible,' that happened a lot on 'Tree of Life,' " she said, adding that the scene in which a butterfly lands on her hand was a total accident. "I could not believe that we captured that," she said. "A butterfly has never before in my life landed on my hand, but in a Terrence Malick movie, he makes it happen."

Chastain went on to say that there were "hundreds" of unique moments like that on "Tree of Life," including another animalistic encounter with baby birds that had fallen out of their nest.

"There were these little baby birds on the grass and it was the boys and I looking at the birds," she explained. "I thought it was so beautiful; also, the mother was up in the trees trying to figure out how to get her children back and I thought for sure, 'Oh, this is going to make it in.' "

Jim Carrey Bonds With Penguin Co-Stars In 'Mr. Popper's'

'It's, like, an energy thing,' funnyman tells MTV News of befriending the birds.

For those familiar with the work of actor Jim Carrey, his presence in the very family-friendly, warm-and-fuzzy movie "Mr. Popper's Penguins" might have been a bit of a head-scratcher. However, as Carrey will explain himself, he's always had a soft spot in his heart for the Arctic-dwelling furry friends.

"It's, like, an energy thing," he told MTV News recently of his ability to bond instantly with his web-footed co-stars. "Any animal, I just kind of get with their energy somehow, I can't explain it," he said, before recalling a certain pivotal and infamous character on his résumé.

"I do have a special affinity for animals because I'm Ace Ventura, Pet Detective," he deadpanned. "So, you know, that's something I like to revisit every once in awhile."

As for how he wound up playing workaholic Mr. Popper, whose life is turned upside down with the unexpected inheritance and delivery of six Gentoo penguins, Carrey said he has a way with creating his own destiny, as it were.

"I have this weird manifestation thing in my life. If I say I like something, the next thing you know, I'm getting a script about it," he explained. "It's just what happens. I was Twittering about [penguins], and it was on my website, 'I really like penguins,' out of nowhere, a non-sequitur," he said. "And then the script comes to me, and I go, 'Well, if it's not a bad script, I'm going to make it work.'

"My managers are like, 'A penguin movie? Really?' " he continued. " 'Does that fit into the rock-and-roll kind of deal of your life and career?' I go, 'I gotta go with it.' "

And so Carrey's road to "Mr Popper's Penguins" was born.

"I think we got the best of all worlds in this," Carrey said of the film's widespread appeal. "It's not without an edge. It's got cool, funny stuff in it, and it's kinda touching."

Check out everything we've got on "Mr. Popper's Penguins."

Los Angeles

I'm here! I'm here! And I saw my first gang-banger get arrested yesterday so I feel like a total Angeleno.

I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)

Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)

And bumpers! (They don't bump off anything... they go, "Scraaaaaaaatch!")

And there's probably more but, again, I have to go because I have to get to the gym!

Bikini Babe Megan Fox's Hawaiian Beach Lovin'

Back in the locale in which they tied the knot a year ago, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green were spotted enjoying a day at the beach in Kona, Hawaii over the Father's Day weekend (June 18).

With Brian's son Kassius along for the family getaway, the bikini clad "Jennifer's Body" babe played in the ocean for a bit with her man before the lovebirds took a stroll along the beach in front of their posh resort.

As for the trip to the Hawaiian Islands, Miss Fox ventured to Kona from Maui after being presented the Iris award at the Maui Film Festival this past Wednesday.

Meanwhile, making the Aloha State vacation even more special, reports indicate that Megan and Brian will be renewing their wedding vows later in the week.

Britney Spears Kicks Off 'Flashiest' Tour Yet

The Femme Fatale launched her tour in Sacramento, California, and is getting raves from music critics.

On Thursday night, Britney Spears declared herself a Femme Fatale, launching her tour in Sacramento, California. Having already garnered praise from critics who attended her dress rehearsal, Spears got more rave reviews from music journalists who attended the kick-off show.

In addition to the glitzy costumes and high production value, Spears flaunted her stage chops, sashaying to songs like "Hold It Against Me" and "Big Fat Bass," as well as old-school jams like "Toxic" and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know."

Describing it as "her flashiest, fastest moving, and most entertaining production yet," Rollingstone.com said that while tour-opener Nicki Minaj brought her signature sass, "The night belonged to Britney: She managed to prove that she's still progressing as a showgirl. Not only that, she's doing it better than even die-hard defenders would've predicted."

The Sacramento Bee explained that while "Spears performed like a pro throughout the show, hitting all her marks, she had shown hesitancy in her movements — natural for the first stop on a tour. But that hesitancy vanished when she put on the denim. She seemed at ease."

The best review of all may have come from Spears herself, who enthusiastically took to Twitter to thank her fans: "Can't sleep. WAY too much Adrenaline right now. Sacramento was on fire tonight. You ready San Jose? Cause I am!!!!"

Once she wraps her San José, California, tour stop on Friday night (June 17), Spears will take her show to Los Angeles on Monday. The U.S. tour dates wrap up on August 25 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Femme Fatale Tour then heads to Europe in September for two more months before closing on November 9 in Portugal.

Share your reviews of Britney's first tour stop in the comments!
